A Word from Your Pastor

Precautionary Measures with Concern of the Coronavirus
With the recent confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the Central Florida area, Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Community will be enacting the following temporary precautionary measures to help prevent the spread of the virus:

  1. For those who are sick with any illness, please refrain from coming to Mass. Please know that the obligation to attend Sunday Mass is lifted and a dispensation is granted to those who are sick. Please get the proper rest and medication and be assured of our prayers as you recover.
  2. Temporary suspension of offering a physical sign of peace or welcome. Please offer the sign of peace and welcome through your words and a reverent bow or wave to your neighbor.
Know that the fullness of the Body and Blood of Christ is present under only one species, whether it is the Sacred Host or the Precious Blood.
  3. Temporary suspension of the minor chalices used for the distribution of the Precious Blood except for one designated chalice to be used at Sunday Masses for those with gluten allergies and/or celiac disease. The deacon or acolyte will offer this designated chalice next to the priest.
  4. While reception of the Sacred Host is left to the discretion of the individual communicant, please consider reception in the hands to lessen the spread of germs.
  5. Please refrain from holding hands during the recitation of the Our Father.
  6. Continued use of the anti-bacterial sanitizer solution by the Extraordinary Minsters of Holy Communion before and after distribution of Communion.

Our Holy Water font will continue to be filled as usual since there is a flowing filtration system in our font. As always, use of holy water is optional.

Most importantly in the midst of this situation, please be kind to one another and pray for those affected by this virus. Please pray that this virus will soon dissipate so that we can once again go back to our celebration without restrictions. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation and may God bless us all.
Sincerely in Christ,

Fr. Scott Circe
