Small Church Communities, consisting of 8/12 parishioners, come together to be a little church within a larger church. They allow parishioners to provide support and encouragement to each other by sharing their personal experiences and getting to know one another through fellowship and outreach. FIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF CHURCH
OVERVIEW OF SMALL CHURCH COMMUNITIES: Phase One: Introduction to Small Church Communities (SCC) with focus on belonging. Beginning experience of trust, openness and freedom where people focus on life and life’s experiences in the light of the Gospel. The Goal: To learn what Small Church Communities are and what they are not, to foster a sense of belonging to the group through listening to others, paying attention to our own experiences and priorities and affirming ourselves and each other. The Format: Discussion activities and breaking open the Sunday scriptures with the help of specially prepared focus questions and reflection. Phase Two: Taking ownership of your own Small Church Community and reaching out in mission and evangelization. The Goal: To support the Small Church Community for the long haul. In a nutshell, the SCC becomes a church in miniature with mutual support and outreach. The Format: Breaking open the Sunday scriptures with the help of specially prepared questions and reflection. Planning and implementation of outreach programs. We warmly invite you to join a Small Church Community and experience parish life in a personal, supportive atmosphere.
