If you are a Catholic who...
● Drifted away from the church, and now, would like a second look.
● Has an unresolved conflict with the church.
● Has in the past found that the church was too rigid, cold, or uncaring.
● Has questions about God and the church that have not been answered.
Why take the journey?
● Grow in your relationship with God.
● Learn how and why the church has changed in response to people's needs.
● Understand what the Catholic Church believes.
● Feel a sense of belonging and connection to a community.
For whatever reason you have kept a distance between yourself and God or your church, know that God waits to welcome you back. As the Prodigal Son returned to open, forgiving arms, you too, can experience the divine embrace of your Lord.
The Holy Name of Jesus Catholic community provides you with the opportunity to explore and express your feelings among those who, like you, have stepped away from God or the church.
Our program offers you a six-week journey to rediscover your faith and God's unending love. This process allows you to set your own pace and explore your feelings as you wish.
● Week One: Back to God - God wants you back. Through this informal introductory meeting, we begin the journey back to God and your faith.
●Week Two: Back to Church - We will address the church customs and traditions, including those which have changed since Vatican II. We will explore each others' experiences and concerns with the church.
●Week Three: Back to Prayer - We will review the history and value of the Catholic Holy Days. We also reflect on the power of prayer through the Rosary.
●Week Four: Back to the Sacraments - We will discuss the Catholic sacraments, including marriage, and their meaning to you since your absence from the church.
●Week Five: Back to Catechism - The Catechism holds the essence of the teaching of the Catholic Church. As a returning Catholic, you may find comfort and security in a discussion of these teachings.
●Week Six: Welcome Back - Prepare for the Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist. God rejoices in your return.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
Seek the Living God!
WHAT IS THE RCIA?
It is the process by which adults become full members of the Catholic community. It restores the ancient catechumenate - the process by which persons became Christians in the early church by praying and studying with the community for 1-3 years. After their Lenten retreat, they were initiated into the community at the Easter Vigil. Like the ancient catechumenate, the RCIA takes place within the community, emphasizing the community as the initiating body. The contemporary catechumenate is an extended process of conversion, faith formation and transformation. Rather than a "program of instruction", it is a multi-dimensional process which includes immersion in the Word of God, worship, community, and service.
WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
There a 4 periods in the process, which correspond to a person's growth in faith and entry into the life of the catholic community. Movement from one period to another is marked by liturgical celebrations (Rites) in which the whole community participates.

MORE DIRECT WAYS TO PARTICIPATE
CHRIST RENEWS HIS PARISH (C.R.H.P.)
"CHRIST RENEWS HIS PARISH"...
... is a retreat weekend open to every adult member of Holy Name of Jesus, where you will experience a personal spiritual renewal and an abundance of love in Christian community. "Christ Renews His Parish" is a process designed to bring members of our parish together in Christ. The process consists of three parts. The first is a gift of the weekend to you where you "come away" from the everyday world for two days of listening, sharing, prayer, fun and food. The second, which is optional, is your gift to other members of our parish. This is where you come together as a new team with the men or women with whom you participated on your weekend, to grow in the light of God and to prepare a weekend for those to follow you. The last is your gift to the world, where you simply take your renewed heart into your everyday life and share your love for God through example and service.
This renewal weekend, to which you are invited, is given for parishioners, by parishioners: no professionals please!
A team of parishioners along with a Retreat Director, have formed in prayer and love to give this gift to you. They will share with you for two days, including one overnight in our parish facilities. Men and women attend separate weekends.
This is not a silent retreat. The emphasis is on personal and community renewal. The process is centered around the sharing of God's love by members of the present team and small group sharing in a very liturgical, scriptural and prayerful atmosphere. There will be no pressure on you to talk or share. Sensitivity to you and your needs will always be respected. The renewal process does not come on like a tornado! It brings God's message of love into finer focus and allows you a relaxed atmosphere to respond to Christ's call to a closer and deeper relationship with Him and other members of our parish.
Accommodations for the weekend are simple but very adequate. Sleeping arrangements are provided
on large comfortable air mattresses and if you require a bed because of a health problem, we can
accommodate you. All meals are prepared for you. If special diets are required, we can handle that too.
The entire weekend is informal. Casual and comfortable clothing is the "uniform of the day"!
Can you afford this weekend? Absolutely, "YES"! While the program attempts to be self-sustaining, we ask that you do not stay away for financial reasons. Donations are welcomed and always kept private and anonymous.
Sacraments are part of the experience. Mass is celebrated and Reconciliation is available with our parish priests or visiting priests.
COME AWAY WITH US!
How do you participate on this weekend? Every adult member (age 20+) of Holy Name of Jesus is invited to the weekend. This means all people of our parish family, including non-Catholic spouses, etc. All are welcome! Someone from the men's or women's team will return your call, answer any questions, and register you for the weekend
Every Fall and Spring there are both Men’s and Women’s Retreats.

Our mission is to unite together as women committed to deepen our faith through prayer and scripture study. We seek to grow in the knowledge of God's will and reflect our faith in our daily lives. Our goals are to open our doors to all women who believe in our mission and to deepen our faith through faith-sharing and scripture study. We strive to complete two to three scripture studies per year (September to May) as well as continuing our education about God's word, the Catholic Faith and prayer. We wish to reach out to women in need in our communities as circumstances present themselves and to nurture and support one another through faith sharing and companionship. Meetings are usually held Tuesdays from 9:30-11 AM in Room 3. For more information, call Bernadette Pinto at 253-6894 or Esther Frye at 773-2569 or call the parish office at 773-2783.
WHAT
Kairos is a Greek word meaning a special time in our lives. Kairos in prison is “God’s Special Time.” The next Kairos prison weekend is March 6 - 9 at Lake Correctional Institution, 15 miles west of Orlando. The team meetings will begin in January. We will experience a unique, ecumenical formation in the Spirit which will confirm our objective to bring Christ into the prison. Team members from over a dozen different churches (Catholics and Protestants) will participate, including Fr. Leo Hodges from Our Lady of Grace in Palm Bay.
HOW
We are asked to contribute enough for our own expenses and for one of the participants. Then we will spend most of four days at the event, some of us sleeping on air mattresses in the training center outside the prison. Others may choose to stay at a local hotel at a reduced rate. We will return again on the Saturday after the week-end to help those who are interested in maintaining their relationship with Christ and each other. There is a monthly reunion for attendees. Team members are asked to commit to these for at least 12 months after the weekend.
WHY
In a thought provoking article in the February 5th, 2004, edition of The Florida Catholic, Fr. Scotchie made the point that Jesus is alive today and that we hope to share in his life. Jesus is most alive in us when we share His life with others. Thus we are challenged to take him with us into the many different environments of the world. Our prisons in Central Florida are right for the harvest. Hundreds are ready to receive the love and forgiveness of Christ they will see through and in a visible, human form. WE PRAY THAT GOD WILL SEND OUT THE WORKERS INTO HIS FIELDS.
