Academics

At Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School, we champion our children's gifts through the hands-on dedication of our staff together with the commitment of our students. We offer a challenging academic curriculum that meets Common Core National Standards and is certified by the Diocese of Orlando. Our experienced and dedicated teachers hold a minimum of bachelor's degrees with the majority possessing master's degrees. Our core curriculum is enhanced with Spanish, religion, fine arts, computer applications and physical education.  Our extracurricular activities include altar serving, choir, drama & boy & girl scouts, science research, science fair, yearbook & student council.

Students in grades 2-8 participate in the Terra Nova Assessment and their performance ranks well above the state and national averages. Middle School students in grades 6-8 are immersed in an academic program that prepares them with the problem solving and leadership skills needed for success in high school and college. Our ability-based learning model for every grade level ensures that each student is challenged to his/her full potential in academic proficiency. Students have the opportunity to earn high school credits in math and Spanish. Likewise, our resource department offers individualized instruction for students with learning needs.

We are proud of our students' many accomplishments. HNJ Catholic School students participate in numerous competitions and receive dozens of awards annually at the Brevard county and Catholic schools science and art fairs, spelling and geo bees, essay contests, math competitions, and more.

Students explore their world in and out of the classroom through educational field trips, hand-on labs, virtual tours, and special guest lectures. Students in all grades embrace technology to expand the depth and breadth of their studies and enrich their learning experience.  iPads, 3D Projection, interactive 75" 4K displays, and Windows computers are used by every student for research, labs, instruction, and connectivity to learning activities. Upon entering 6th grade, students are issued their own Chromebook. This learning tool serves as their information warehouse.

As we educate our children in a nurturing and safe environment, students develop a strong sense of identity and their place in the world as they discover their unique gifts and talents. A wide variety of extracurricular programs and electives give our children the opportunity to develop socially, learn life skills, and become well-rounded individuals. Over 90% of our students participate in our vibrant athletics program through the Coastal Catholic League. Our state-of-the-art athletics center is home for many of our sporting events and physical education program.

For over 50 years, Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School has been providing an excellent academic program that is in communion with our family values, faith traditions, and community goals. The faculty and staff are dedicated to developing the "whole" person, and instilling in our children a life-long quest for learning.
